Breakfast at 8 a.m.

This highly interactive workshop is designed for board members and board staff to provide a greater understanding of good governance principles and concepts and roles and responsibilities of board members. Participants will have the opportunity to engage and learn from each other and gain a greater appreciation of the perspectives and value each governor brings to the governing process. They will also gain a greater appreciation of the role of board staff.

Open to Ontario and non-Ontario college governors and board staff. Pre-registration is required. Breakfast, lunch and breaks will be provided.

New board members and board staff want to make a contribution to the vibrancy of their boards. This session will be an opportunity for each person to reflect on learnings from the good governance workshop and to strategize on how to contribute to -- or facilitate -- a healthy and smart dialogue at board meetings. It will be an opportunity for each person to initiate his/her personal governance professional development plan and discuss his/her legacy to their college's board.

Open to Ontario and non-Ontario college governors and board staff. Pre-registration is required. Breakfast will be provided.

9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Introduction to risk management (part one) - College Centre of Board Excellence
Breakfast at 8 a.m.

External experts will look at what enterprise risk management (ERM) means for the college system, the role of boards vs. management in ERM, and the information boards need to accomplish ERM oversight. Legal obligations of a board relating to risk management will be discussed. Through group exercises, participants will have the opportunity to discuss the material and engage and learn from each other.

Please refer to the CCBE website for additional risk management sessions (parts one, two and three). Please speak to your board administrator for password access.

Open to Ontario and non-Ontario college governors and board staff. Pre-registration is required. Breakfast will be provided.

The purpose of this meeting is to provide a forum for these representatives to discuss issues of current concern. An addenda for the meeting will be distributed to the board.

Open to Ontario college board chairs and vice chairs only. Pre-registration is required. Breakfast will be provided.

8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Aboriginal Educational Councils meeting
9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Committee of Presidents meeting
11:40 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. Student governors network
 

The purpose of this session is to provide new and returning college student board governors with an opportunity for interactive discussion with their peers from other colleges.
